Alone in the Ocean marks Russian filmmaker Kirill Sokolov's first animated feature, reimagining a project originally developed as live-action. The film tells the extraordinary true story of Slava Kurilov, an oceanographer who dreamed of exploring the world's oceans but found those opportunities out of reach in the Soviet Union. In December 1974, Kurilov bought a ticket on a Soviet cruise from Vladivostok, planning to jump overboard near the Philippines. His escape didn't go as planned—he jumped farther from shore than intended and spent nearly three days swimming alone in the Pacific before reaching Siargao island. The project is being produced by Artem Vasilyev through Ireland-based Lazy Sunday, with Roman Borisevich and Didier Lupfer of The Media Company, and Alan Keane serving as creative producer. Roman Sokolov will serve as art director, bringing experience from collaborations on Academy Award-nominated animated shorts. The producers are currently in discussions with potential partners across Europe as the animated adaptation moves into active development.

When his uncle leaves for Punjab for a supposedly temporary retirement, struggling Indo-Canadian stand-up comic Maninder Cheema is forced to take over Chai Tea, a warm but chaotic café in Surrey. Maninder sees the customers as freeloaders, the staff as impossible, and the café as a trap. However, the more he complains about everyone around him, the more entertaining they find him. As Maninder attempts to impose order on the café, he begins to discover that he may be unexpectedly good at running the place he is desperate to escape. At its heart, Chai Tea is a bittersweet ensemble comedy about community, resentment, immigrant family obligations, and the fear of discovering that you may be good at the thing you most want to avoid. Peacock has greenlit Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show, a three-part documentary examining the rise and fall of one of daytime television's most distinctive talk shows. This is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol that takes place in the Smoky Mountains with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. The musical style of the show takes its inspiration from the Appalachian String Band music that was prevalent in the Mountains of East Tennessee and its environs early in the 20th century. Often referred to as 'Old Time Music,' the instrumentation is characterized by an all-acoustic band that features the fiddle and banjo. The fiddle style has a distinctive sound that can be heard in the old recordings of Fiddlin' John Carson. The banjo is played in a style known as frailing or clawhammer-style that was made famous by Uncle Dave Macon. It is important to note that even though the instrumentation is similar, this is not Bluegrass music. Bluegrass Music came into existence during the 1940s, well after the time in which our tale takes place. House of Guinness is heading back into production for its second season, with Netflix greenlighting another chapter of Steven Knight's 19th-century drama about the famed Irish brewing family. Production is set to begin filming in Northern Ireland in 2027, marking McGee's third collaboration with Netflix following Derry Girls and How to Get to Heaven From Belfast.

Joe's Assignment is a Norwegian-Greek co-production currently in post-production, directed by Jens Lien and written by Per Schreiner, the creative team behind the cult dystopian comedy The Bothersome Man. The title stands for Killing Oldmen Club. The cast includes Lee Byung-hun and Park Hae-soo, both Squid Game alumni, alongside Oh Jung-se, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Kim So-jin. Firstman Studio, the production company co-founded by Hwang and producer Kim Ji-yeon, is producing the film. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027, marking Hwang's first theatrical feature since The Fortress in 2017.
