Project Summary
Ground Control is a feature documentary in pre-production for CBC, marking the debut commission for Marlo Miazga's newly launched Toronto-based production company M Media. Directed by Chase Joynt and written by Greg Beer and Katrina Onstad, the film explores the tragic 2020 death of Miazga's 14-year-old child and examines deficiencies in the Canadian healthcare system around youth mental health. Production is set to begin in October 2026, with delivery scheduled for spring 2027 to coincide with the publication of Miazga's memoir of the same name. Financing is in place through Telefilm Canada's Theatrical Documentary Program, the Canada Media Fund's POV program, and Rogers Documentary Fund. Julie Bristow and Ryan Dias join Miazga as executive producers. Eyesteel Films will handle the Canadian theatrical release, with worldwide rights currently being shopped.
