When their derelict brother disappears, estranged sisters reunite in their hometown to wrestle with ghosts of the past, seek redemption, and restore harmony to the family name. For Poppy, this means returning from the big city to her rural hometown for the first time in years, carrying depression and the shame of a failed marriage on her shoulders. Once home, she must face her religiously zealous and conservative sister, Fern, who is also housing their youngest sister, July, and her young son. Doubting the seriousness of their brother's disappearance, the sisters take matters into their own hands to track him down. This sends them on a wild goose chase to seek out anyone who had recent contact with their brother, from his strung-out girlfriend to the local police, to strangers at his favorite dive bar, to a mysterious trailer park shaman. Throughout the journey, the sisters are forced to confront their own feelings of interpersonal guilt, judgement, and compassion within the larger family dynamic.
