Serendipity

Michael Showalter is directing a reimagined version of Serendipity for Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax, with casting currently underway. Marc Klein, who wrote the original 2001 film, returns to pen the screenplay for this modern take. Showalter and Jordana Mollick are producing through their Semi-Formal Productions banner, alongside Simon Fields, who produced the original. The project marks a continuation of Semi-Formal's first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios. While Showalter describes the film as a rebuttal to the original rather than a straight remake, it explores similar themes of fate and connection with an entirely new story and characters. The production has not yet announced a release strategy or start date.
