The Envoy
Project Summary
The Envoy is a hostage-recovery drama series in development at HBO Max from creator Alexi Hawley and Lionsgate Television. Inspired by Adam Ciralsky's 2024 Vanity Fair article, the show will feature one fictionalized hostage scenario per season, dramatizing the high-stakes negotiations and emotional efforts by U. S. government teams to bring American hostages home. Hawley serves as creator and executive producer through his Perfectman Pictures banner, with Adam Ciralsky and Gene Klein executive producing for P3 Media. Roger Carstens also serves as an executive producer. The project was originally set up at Hulu in August 2024 before moving to HBO Max in spring 2026, with ABC Signature initially attached as co-producer with Lionsgate.
