Project Summary
Thick is an indie dark comedy marking the feature directorial debut of Joshua Ryan Dietz, who wrote the screenplay and is directing. Emory Cohen stars as Richard, a small-town man grappling with masculinity and identity in a story that grew out of Dietz's desire to explore the absurdity of the alpha-male movement. The film will be produced by Thomas Hartmann, Allison Dietz, and Dietz under his Tammie's Son banner. Set to shoot in California with a state tax credit, the production has Seth Yanklewitz and Ben Pollack handling casting. Dietz is coming off a festival run for his short film Supper, which premiered at HollyShorts in 2025. Cohen, known for Brooklyn and A Place Beyond the Pines, recently appeared in Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme.
