Project Summary

Lasya: The Gentle Dance is a short film now shooting on the streets of Mumbai, directed by Anup Singh (Qissa, The Song of Scorpions) and produced by Pretty Pictures. The film follows a father and son who live as beggars on Mumbai's roadside through a single day in their lives. Monsoon rains repeatedly destroy their makeshift shelter, and the city offers them little beyond hostility and indifference. The father's stories about the boy's late mother—her boldness and refusal to let go of playfulness even while navigating the harsh realities of the city—help the son see himself as more than a victim and give him the resolve to rebuild. Pretty Pictures is led by Zeeshan Ahmad and Pretty Aggarwal. Following this short, the production company plans to collaborate with Singh on a feature film in early 2027, a project originally intended as Singh's third collaboration with the late actor Irrfan Khan.
