Project Summary
The Operator is a Netflix action thriller that reunites director Joe Carnahan with the streamer following the record-breaking success of The Rip. Mark Wahlberg stars as a former elite operative turned covert CIA cleaner who faces his most dangerous assignment yet. Written by Harrison Query, the project is produced by Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson through their Municipal Pictures banner, alongside The Picture Company's Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona, and Scott Glassgold's 12:01 Films. Netflix acquired Query's spec script in a competitive bidding situation in December 2025, and Carnahan came aboard in August 2026. The project marks another collaboration between Wahlberg and Netflix, following his starring roles in Spenser Confidential, The Union, and Me Time. Production timelines have not yet been announced.
