Ozzy Osbourne Biopic
Project Summary
The Ozzy Osbourne biopic remains in active development at Sony Pictures, with producer Jack Osbourne confirming the script is complete and the team is now seeking a director. Written by Lee Hall, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind Rocketman, the film will chronicle Ozzy's extraordinary life and his enduring relationship with wife Sharon. The project is being produced by Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment in partnership with Osbourne Media, with Sharon, Jack, and Aimée Osbourne serving as producers alongside Polygram's Michele Anthony and David Blackman and Sony's Andrea Giannetti. The narrative will focus on Ozzy's transition from Black Sabbath frontman to solo artist, covering the turbulent early 1980s including the tragic death of guitarist Randy Rhoads. The film aims to deliver an unfiltered look at the rock legend's life, with Jack emphasizing the project will 'give the fans what they want' rather than an artsy approach. A lead actor has been selected though not yet announced publicly, and the film is targeting a 2028 theatrical release.
