His mother Ellen is smart, sharp, and direct, practical and overextended, often the most grounded person in the room, with a complicated relationship with her own mother and works hard to keep that from shaping her son. The romance-focused project was announced by Rebelle Media co-founder Amanda Palley at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Rebelle Media, founded by Laura Lewis and recently rebranded as a romance-driven studio, is developing the adaptation with MGM Television as part of their first-look deal. The producers emphasized their excitement about bringing the small-town ensemble cast to life for television audiences.

Widow's Bay returns for a second season on Apple TV+, with creator and showrunner Katie Dippold leading the writers' room that opened in late July 2026.
