Varanasi is deep into principal photography under director S. S. Rajamouli, with major IMAX-format action sequences already completed and approximately 80 days of filming remaining. The Telugu-language epic stars Mahesh Babu as Rudhra, a time-traveling adventurer, alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Mandakini and Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist Kumbha. The production is being mounted by Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business, with producers K. L. Narayana and S. S. Karthikeya. Filming is currently underway at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, with the team targeting a September or October 2026 wrap before moving into extensive post-production. The story spans multiple timelines and locations from Antarctica to Africa to the titular Indian holy city, with music by Oscar-winner M. M. Keeravani. The project is being shot partially in the 1. 43:1 IMAX format and is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
