Untitled Lou Gehrig Film

Glen Powell is set to portray Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig in an untitled biopic at Universal Pictures, reuniting with director Richard Linklater after their collaborations on Hit Man and Everybody Wants Some!! Simon Rich is writing the screenplay, while Saturday Night Live creator and lifelong Yankees fan Lorne Michaels will produce alongside Erin David through Broadway Video's first-look deal with Universal. Powell will also produce with Dan Cohen under Barnstorm's first-look arrangement with the studio, and Linklater is in talks to produce through Detour Filmproduction. The film will chronicle Gehrig's legendary career, including his then-record 2,130 consecutive games played, and his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 1939. No production start date has been announced, as Powell is reportedly planning to take a break after a busy stretch of work.
