The Silent Patient is a feature film adaptation of Alex Michaelides' New York Times bestselling psychological thriller. Sony Pictures has newly boarded the project, joining producers Annapurna and Plan B Entertainment in what sources describe as a fast-tracked development. The story centers on Alicia Berenson, a celebrated painter whose life takes a shocking turn when she murders her husband and subsequently refuses to speak. Her silence makes her infamous and her art priceless, attracting Theo Faber, a therapist determined to reach the woman no one else can. As he gets closer to her and those who loved and hated her, he uncovers truths leading to a shocking revelation. The production is currently seeking a screenwriter, with plans to attach one in the coming months. Plan B, led by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner, brings extensive experience with literary adaptations including World War Z and The Big Short. Annapurna's recent slate includes the Oscar-nominated Nimona.
