The Ultimate Self-Defense Championship is launching a female-focused spinoff series set to debut on YouTube this summer. Created by Rokas Leonavičius, the spinoff will spotlight elite women from across the self-defense and martial arts communities, following the format of the main series which has generated 150 million views across three seasons. The project brings together competitors and experts from various martial arts disciplines including UFC fighters, kickboxers, self-defense specialists, traditional martial artists, grapplers, and striking experts. The organization is simultaneously developing season four of the main series and working with production company Cowboy Bear Ninja on a traditional television reboot of the franchise. The series recently launched on Tubi as part of its Creatorverse initiative and plans to expand to other platforms.

Dhillon wrote and stars in the series, which follows a South Asian standup comic navigating the Los Angeles standup comedy and roast battle scene while caring for her father. Lee directs and executive produces through his production banner Margin Films, founded in Los Angeles in 1996. Principal photography is set to begin in August 2026, with the completed first season debuting as Asian American Movies' inaugural original vertical series. The show will stream worldwide on AAM. tv—available via iOS, Android, and Roku—for Thanksgiving 2026, with a November premiere targeted.

Danny McBride is set to direct a new G. I. Joe reboot for Paramount Pictures, marking his feature film directorial debut. ITV has commissioned a drama from writer Jeff Pope examining the impact of social media on children and the challenges families face when seeking information from technology companies. The project follows the story of Ellen Roome, whose 14-year-old son Julian 'Jools' Sweeney died in April 2022, and her four-year campaign to access his social media data. Produced by Etta Pictures in association with Featuristic Films, the series was commissioned by ITV Director of Drama Polly Hill. Lauren Cowell, who brought the idea to ITV, will executive produce alongside Pope. Roome will serve as a consultant throughout the writing and production process. Panamanian filmmaker Abner Benaim is in production on an untitled documentary following Jaime Alemán, a lawyer, diplomat, and world traveler who became the first human to complete the 'Grand Slam of Travel'—visiting all 193 UN countries, both poles, and flying to space aboard Blue Origin in 2025. Daniel Junge, the Oscar and Emmy-winning director of 'Saving Face,' joins as executive producer, marking his second collaboration with Benaim following 'Tropical Paradise.' Produced by Benaim's Apertura Films, the documentary combines expedition filmmaking with intimate access, following Alemán on journeys to remote locations including Tristan da Cunha, Oymyakon, and Death Valley. The film has already shot in the Azores, Brazil, Toronto, and Panama, with upcoming production scheduled in Bangkok, Bhutan, and Pakistan. The documentary also follows Alemán's daughter Sofi as she pursues visiting all 193 countries, aiming to become the first father-daughter team to achieve this milestone.

FX has secured rights to develop a drama series inspired by Paige Williams' 2026 New Yorker article about the Backcountry Unit Search and Rescue team at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The project, in early development with no writer yet attached, follows the volunteer squad of trained outdoor athletes who support park rangers in rescuing visitors lost or injured in remote wilderness areas. We Won't Get Old Together marks Marius Olteanu's return to feature filmmaking after his 2019 Berlinale prizewinner Monsters. The pandemic-set drama centers on Radu, a 40-year-old unemployed architect caught between two relationships and facing a potentially life-threatening diagnosis. When forced to organize the funeral of his younger lover's best friend—a man he never met—Radu confronts Romania's legal void around same-sex relationships and must rebuild his life from the ground up. The film is produced by Oana Giurgiu at Bucharest-based Point Film and co-produced by Martine Vidalenc of France's Midralgar Films. The post-production team includes sound designer Alexandru Dragomir, sound mixer Bruno Ehlinger, colorist Andu Radu, and VFX by Thierry Delobel. Set largely within three apartments in Bucharest, the film won the inaugural Transilvania HBO Award in June 2026 and is targeting a 2027 premiere.

Werwulf is an upcoming horror film directed by Robert Eggers, known for his work on "The Witch" and "Nosferatu." Wet marks Alma Har'el's return to narrative features seven years after her acclaimed debut Honey Boy. Set in 1918 Tampa, Florida, Ybor City tells the story of two immigrant communities who work side by side and yet do not see each other. Music and dance drive this historical exploration into racial divisions. Song, dance, and solidarity become the characters' path to survival. The production is presented as part of the Latinx Theatre Commons (LTC) Carnaval of New Latinx Musicals, taking place at UC San Diego.
