Becoming Kafka

Becoming Kafka is a six-part mystery-thriller miniseries in development from Slovak director Peter Bebjak and screenwriter Jakub Režný. The project is being produced by Rastislav Šesták through DNA Production in co-production with Iva K Jestřábová through Oneplay/TV Nova for the Czech streaming platform Oneplay and Slovak platform Voyo. Set in Prague in 1908, the series follows Franz Kafka as he wakes up bloodstained and accused of a ritualistic child murder during a night he cannot remember. To prove his innocence and save a surviving girl, Kafka teams up with his sister Ottla and an unconventional detective, uncovering a conspiracy of insurance fraud and industrial sabotage. The project has been presented at industry events including the Seriencamp Co-Production Pitch and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event. The first two scripts are complete, with the remaining four episodes to be finished by the end of 2026.
