Othello

This production of Othello will contain an original musical-theater number in three parts: the scene in which Desdemona and Othello arrive in Cyprus, the 'Canikin Clink' drinking song, and a slapstick bar brawl. The production features original music composed for the drinking song 'Clink Me the Canikin Clink,' turned into a bar-thumping, foot-stomping, roof-raising, full-fledged musical-theater number. Choreographer Doug Vasquez, who directed and choreographed 42nd Street at the Westchester Playhouse — the best attended and highest grossing show in the 75-year history of that theater — created this number. Shakespeare's classic tragedy follows Iago, passed over by Othello for promotion, who pursues his revenge against the Moor of Venice, constructing a plot fueled by betrayal and jealousy. As suspicion takes hold of Othello's mind, we watch him spiral towards his inevitable tragic doom. Performances run September 11 – October 3, 2026 at the Westchester Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA.
