Greetings from Maryland
Project Summary
Greetings from Maryland is a horror feature in development from Salvadoran director Ricardo B'atz, marking his first venture into genre filmmaking after his social realist debut Hoy. The project won the Mórbido Co-Production Award at the Costa Rica Media Market, with Grupo Mórbido founder Pablo Guisa coming aboard as producer with an investment of 10 to 20 percent of the budget. B'atz plans to film in El Salvador, bringing a deeply human perspective to the supernatural horror genre by reflecting the real struggles faced by migrant workers in the United States. The project emerged from the Fantastic Lab Central America & Caribbean, a genre film development initiative launched by the Fantastic Pavilion, Costa Rica Media Market, and Grupo Mórbido.
