Autobiography of an Octopus

Autobiography of an Octopus has moved into post-production, with filmmaker Mathieu Amalric adapting Vinciane Despret's 2021 speculative work Autobiographie d'un poulpe. Christèle Tual leads the cast in this France-Belgium co-production. Les Films du Poisson produces the feature, continuing a long collaboration with Amalric that includes On Tour and other auteur projects. Pyramide International handles world sales. Despret's source novel is a philosophical meditation on animal intelligence and communication, blending scientific debate with literary imagination. The project marks another director-driven work from Amalric, who has built a career balancing acting and filmmaking.
