Next to Normal

Next to Normal is the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Broadway hit musical. With book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, 'Next to Normal' explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Winner of three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, Next to Normal was also chosen as 'one of the year's ten best shows' by critics around the country. The story centers on a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effects that managing her illness has on her family. The musical addresses grief, depression, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life. Produced by Mouth Bone Productions, an award-winning independent theatre company based in Los Angeles.
