Wet marks Alma Har'el's return to narrative features seven years after her acclaimed debut Honey Boy. The project is an original screenplay written by Har'el, described as a family drama with tonal echoes of HBO's Succession and Ruben Östlund's Triangle of Sadness. Javier Bardem is currently circling an undisclosed lead role, though no deals have been finalized. Fifth Season is nearing an agreement to produce and finance the film, with WME representing both Har'el and Bardem in the negotiations. The project moved to the front of Har'el's development slate after her Mockingbird adaptation at Searchlight Pictures entered turnaround earlier this year. No production schedule, locations, or distributor have been announced.
