John Carter, Warlord of Mars
Project Summary
John Carter, Warlord of Mars is an animated series adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' century-old pulp science fiction novels. Mark Andrews, the Academy Award-winning director of Pixar's Brave and co-writer of Disney's 2012 live-action John Carter film, has joined as supervising director and co-showrunner alongside head writer Michael Kogge. Kogge initially developed the series and previously wrote and directed the John Carter of Mars audio series. The project is being produced by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. , with Jim Sullos and Wolf Larson overseeing for the estate. This marks the first time the Carter stories will be fully realized in animation, following decades of attempted adaptations. Andrews and Kogge are scheduled to present the series at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026.
