Áróra
Project Summary
Áróra is an international crime drama series in development through a co-production between Iceland's Glassriver and Germany's Network Movie, a subsidiary of ZDF Studios. The project adapts all five novels in Lilja Sigurðardóttir's bestselling An Áróra Investigation series—Cold as Hell, Red as Blood, White as Snow, Dark as Night, and Deep as Death—which have sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide. The series follows Áróra, a tough fraud investigator with Icelandic roots living in London, who returns to Iceland to search for her missing sister. What begins as a family mission expands into a dangerous criminal investigation as she partners with Daníel, an Icelandic police detective, exposing corruption, betrayal, and violence. The production is led by Glassriver CEO Andri Ómarsson and Network Movie managing director Bernd von Fehrn and executive producer Moritz Mihm, with Sigurðardóttir—who previously co-wrote episodes of Netflix's Katla—continuing her collaboration with Glassriver. The series is set across Iceland and London, positioning it as an international project bringing together European talent.
