Untitled Princess Tiana Live-Action Film

Disney is developing an original live-action film centered on Princess Tiana, inspired by The Princess and the Frog. Colman Domingo and Robert O'Hara are in talks to co-write the project, which is being positioned as a spin-off of the 2009 animated feature rather than a traditional remake. Domingo, a two-time Oscar nominee, will team with O'Hara, who earned a Tony nomination for directing Slave Play. The project remains in early development, with deals not yet finalized. The original Princess and the Frog was Disney's last hand-drawn animated film, set in 1920s New Orleans and following waitress Tiana as she dreams of opening her own restaurant. This new take aims to expand Tiana's world with an original story, similar to Disney's approach with other character-focused projects like the upcoming Gaston film.
