In the cutthroat arena of Washington D.C., Senator Julian Redmond is the undisputed golden boy of American politics and the reluctant heir to a tragic, monumental family legacy. When a figure from Julian's college years unexpectedly steps into the spotlight, the campaign's old-guard fixers move to bury the past at any cost. A Play About a Baby Carrot is an exceptionally moving, sharply funny, and fiercely original piece of contemporary theater. Intimate, offbeat, and quietly devastating, it handles an untouchable subject with immense empathy, poetic rhythm, and a brilliantly grounded sense of humor. The play embraces surreal and absurd elements to create a beautifully warped exploration of grief where uncertainty and understanding live side by side, exposing the abandonment, disarray, and stubborn unwillingness to let go. The humor never mocks the tragedy; rather, it highlights the messy, awkward, and deeply uncoordinated reality of human grieving — grieving people are clumsy. Amidst the strict rituals and crushing silence of a traditional Jewish shiva, a grieving mother pushes her family to the brink when she becomes convinced that her recently deceased infant daughter has been reincarnated as a backyard carrot—forcing her traditional father and distant husband to confront the limits of their own rigid ways of grieving. Total of 16 performances, Thursday–Sunday, with one Monday show on February 22, 2027.

The production features executive producers from Shadow Lion including Gilad Haas, Jeff Fine, Lior Haas, David Zabinsky, and Philip Byron, with Graham McKay and Dan Levy serving as co-executive producers. The film tells the story of a team that launched in 2023 and became ABA League champions in just their second full season, reflecting broader themes about Dubai's growth and international ambition.
You Seem Sad weaves post-WWII Nagasaki and early-2000s New York City together through the parallel journeys of Keiko—a young unapologetic atomic-bomb survivor rebuilding her life in 1950s Japan—and Student 1, a half-Japanese twenty-something who is reckoning with her career, love and identity in contemporary America. With humor, brutal honesty, and heart, the play intertwines memory, personal pain and history into a layered portrait of two women shaped by different eras yet bound by a shared search for meaning, connection and the pursuit of survival. Produced by WP Theater in co-production with Ma-Yi Theater Company, in association with Lucille Lortel Theatre.
