American Royals

American Royals is heading to Netflix as a drama series based on Katharine McGee's bestselling young adult book series. The project landed at the streamer following a competitive bidding situation, with Ted Malawer attached to write and executive produce. Malawer, who co-wrote the film adaptation of Red, White & Royal Blue, returns to Netflix where he previously worked on the limited series Halston. Leslie Morgenstein, President and Chief Creative Officer of Alloy Entertainment, joins as executive producer, with Warner Bros. Television serving as the studio. The alternate-history story imagines a world where George Washington accepted a crown after the Revolutionary War, and chronicles the contemporary lives of his young royal descendants as they deal with palace intrigue, romantic entanglements, and the weight of succession. The project is currently in development with no production timeline or casting announced yet.
