Project Summary
Thornbird is in development at Hulu as a series adaptation of Elle Kennedy's young adult thriller novel. Marlene King, creator of Pretty Little Liars, will write and executive produce the 20th Television project. The story follows Ryan Shipley, who returns to Starling, Tennessee ten years after her father, serial killer Gabriel Thorn, was arrested. As Ryan tries to build a normal life and hide her true identity, she becomes caught up in mysteries connected to her family's dark past. Kennedy, known for her Off Campus book series, published Thornbird under the pseudonym E. Kennedy in June 2026, and the novel became an instant New York Times bestseller. Kennedy will executive produce alongside King and Lauren Wagner through King's production company Long Lake Media. No cast or production timeline has been announced yet.
