Project Summary

The Ideal Man follows the mysterious disappearance of Jim Thompson, the former OSS operative turned Thai silk magnate who vanished in 1967. Foreign Concept Entertainment is developing the project with writer Dorothy Kozak Snoke adapting Joshua Kurlantzick's biography of the same name. Producer Michael Belyea leads the production, with executive producers Dylan Tarason and Michael Rifkin attached. The film explores Thompson's suspicious disappearance during the height of the Vietnam War and the range of suspects implicated in the case. Principal photography is expected to begin in Bangkok in mid-2027, with a director currently being finalized. The project is being shopped to buyers at the Cannes Film Market and is being developed in association with the Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company, which Thompson founded in 1951.
