Baldwin: A Love Story

Baldwin: A Love Story is a feature film adaptation of Nicholas Boggs' biography of writer and civil rights activist James Baldwin. Higher Ground, the production company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama, is co-producing with Anonymous Content. The project marks one of Anonymous Content's first self-financed films under its new business model backed by Laurene Powell Jobs' Emerson Collective. Nicholas Boggs and his partner, Man Booker Prize-winning novelist Marlon James, have been commissioned to write the screenplay. The film will explore Baldwin's transformative relationships with painter Beauford Delaney, Swiss painter Lucien Happersberger, Turkish actor Engin Cezzar, and French artist Yoran Cazac. Producers include Darren Walker and David Levine for Anonymous Content, Anikah McLaren for Higher Ground, and Howard Gertler, with Boggs and James serving as executive producers. The project was announced in October 2026 at the Bloomberg Screentime conference, with a script currently in development.
