G.I. Joe (Untitled)

Paramount Pictures is rebooting the G. I. Joe franchise with Bradley Cooper starring as Duke, the leader of the elite military unit. Danny McBride directs and co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri, marking his first major feature directorial effort after helming episodes of The Righteous Gemstones and Vice Principals. The film takes a serious, grounded approach rather than comedy, following Duke and the Joes as they investigate Springfield, a seemingly normal American town that is secretly controlled by the villainous Cobra organization. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Zev Foreman produce for Hasbro Entertainment. The project is targeting a 2027 production start, with Cooper coming on board after reading the script and meeting with McBride, with whom he previously collaborated on The Righteous Gemstones. This standalone reboot is separate from the previously teased Transformers crossover.
