Project Summary
Yalla, Dubai: From Startup to Championship is a feature documentary in production from Shadow Lion, the Boston-based production company co-founded by Tom Brady. The film chronicles the remarkable journey of Dubai Basketball, a professional team built almost overnight by bringing together players, coaches, and executives from around the world. Directed by Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sami Khan, the documentary draws on roughly 40 terabytes of archival material and newly captured footage from Dubai, Slovenia, and beyond. The production features executive producers from Shadow Lion including Gilad Haas, Jeff Fine, Lior Haas, David Zabinsky, and Philip Byron, with Graham McKay and Dan Levy serving as co-executive producers. The film tells the story of a team that launched in 2023 and became ABA League champions in just their second full season, reflecting broader themes about Dubai's growth and international ambition.
