Untitled G.I. Joe Movie

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a fresh take on the G. I. Joe franchise, with Bradley Cooper attached to star as Duke, the field commander of the elite military strike force. Danny McBride is set to direct and co-wrote the screenplay with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri, his collaborators from The Righteous Gemstones. The film is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Zev Foreman for Hasbro Entertainment. McBride has described the project as a suspense-driven action film rather than a comedy, centering on Duke and the Joes as they infiltrate Springfield, a town that has been covertly overtaken by Cobra. The project is separate from the previously announced Transformers crossover and represents a complete reimagining of the franchise. While casting for Cooper was finalized in October 2026, the production is targeting a 2027 start date for principal photography.
