Project Summary
Sicario 3 is moving forward in pre-production with Taylor Sheridan returning to write the script for the third chapter of his acclaimed cartel thriller franchise. Josh Brolin will reprise his role as CIA officer Matt Graver, with Benicio del Toro expected to return as Alejandro Gillick. Black Label Media is producing the film, which has been in development since 2018 under the working title Sicario: Capos. Following years of delays—including the 2023 WGA strike—the project gained momentum in August 2026 when Brolin confirmed production would begin soon. No director has been announced, with Denis Villeneuve helming the original 2015 film and Stefano Sollima directing the 2018 sequel. The franchise follows covert operations against drug cartels, with the first two films both scripted by Sheridan and produced by Black Label Media.
