Project Summary
Desperation is heading back to the screen as a feature film at Searchlight Pictures, marking the first collaboration between Stephen King and producer Sam Raimi. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directing duo behind the 2025 horror hit Final Destination: Bloodlines, are attached to helm the project. Ryan Brennan is writing the screenplay for this adaptation of King's 1996 novel, which follows stranded travelers battling a sadistic, possessed police officer in a remote desert town. Raimi is producing through his Ghost House Pictures banner alongside partner Robert Tapert, with Lipovsky and Stein also producing and Romel Adam and Jose Cañas executive producing. The project is currently in development with no production start date announced.
