Project Summary
Robopocalypse is being developed as a television series by Imagine Entertainment and Weed Road Pictures, based on the 2011 novel by Daniel H. Wilson. Ron Howard is attached to direct the pilot episode, with Akiva Goldsman set to serve as showrunner and write the pilot script. Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment will executive produce, marking a continuation of Spielberg's long involvement with the project, which was originally developed as a feature film over a decade ago. Imagine's Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, along with Weed Road's Greg Lessans and Rachel Wizenberg, are leading development alongside Howard and Goldsman. The series centers on humanity's desperate last stand against an AI-controlled robot uprising. The project is currently being shopped to networks and streaming platforms, with no distributor yet attached. Howard and Goldsman previously collaborated on A Beautiful Mind, which won multiple Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director.
