Samuel M. Raimi (born October 23, 1959, Royal Oak, Michigan) is one of Hollywood's most influential genre filmmakers, best known for writing and directing the Evil Dead trilogy (1981–1992) and directing the Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007). He co-founded Renaissance Pictures in 1979 and Ghost House Pictures in 2002 with Robert Tapert, producing an extensive slate of horror and genre films including Don't Breathe, The Grudge, Evil Dead (2013), and Drag Me to Hell. His most recent directorial effort, Send Help (2026, 20th Century Studios), starred Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien and earned strong reviews; he is currently producing Portrait of God (Universal, with Jordan Peele) and Evil Dead Wrath (Ghost House Pictures, directed by Francis Galluppi, due 2028).
