Project Summary
Netflix has greenlit a limited prequel series exploring the love story of Violet and Edmund Bridgerton, the parents at the heart of the Bridgerton family. Shonda Rhimes returns to write and showrun the project alongside Nicholas Nardini, marking Rhimes' first writing work since Queen Charlotte. The series will be produced by Shondaland, with Betsy Beers and Tom Verica serving as executive producers. Based on Julia Quinn's novella Violet in Bloom, the prequel will follow young Violet's courtship with Edmund before his tragic death from a bee sting left her a widow with eight children. Casting has not yet been announced, and no production timeline has been set.
