Project Summary
A Nightmare on Elm Street is in development at Paramount Pictures under its new genre label Paramount Primal. The project marks Paramount's acquisition of U. S. rights to adapt Wes Craven's original 1984 screenplay, licensed from the Craven estate. Iya Labunka and Jonathan Craven, widow and son of the late director, will produce alongside attorney Marc Toberoff, who helped the family regain ownership. The film will be executive produced by Paramount Primal heads J. D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, whose recent credits include Barbarian. Plot details remain under wraps, though the project is described as being set in the world of the original Nightmare on Elm Street. This will be the franchise's first theatrical installment since the 2010 remake. No writer, director, cast, or production timeline has been announced.
