Project Summary
Netflix has greenlit a new Bridgerton prequel limited series chronicling the love story of young Lady Violet and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. Shonda Rhimes returns to writing duties, co-showrunning with Nicholas Nardini, her collaborator from Queen Charlotte. Tom Verica will direct and executive produce, with Betsy Beers also executive producing through Shondaland. The series follows the successful model of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and is based on Julia Quinn's novella Violet In Bloom. Like the main Bridgerton series and Queen Charlotte, the production is expected to film in the UK, where Netflix built a dedicated Shondaland studio. The project was announced in October 2026, with casting and production timelines yet to be revealed. Season 5 of the main Bridgerton series is currently filming in London, establishing the franchise's continued UK production base.
