Searchlight Pictures

Searchlight Pictures is a global specialty film and television company — formerly known as Fox Searchlight Pictures — that develops, produces, finances, and acquires motion pictures and series for worldwide theatrical and streaming releases. Founded on April 29, 1994, it has its own autonomous marketing and distribution operations and is part of The Walt Disney Studios, a division of The Walt Disney Company. The company's titles have grossed over $5 billion worldwide, earning 52 Academy Awards including five Best Picture winners (Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, The Shape of Water, and Nomadland), and also operates Searchlight Television, its TV production division. In 2025, Searchlight relocated from the Fox Studio Lot in Century City to the Walt Disney Studios campus in Burbank.
