The Devil's Business

The Devil's Business is a limited series in development for television, with Tom Fontana attached as creator and showrunner. The project is based on Emanuele Midolo's forthcoming book of the same name, which follows Archbishop Paul Marcinkus through his rise within Vatican power structures during the 1980s. Fabel Entertainment is leading development and will produce alongside Italy-based Picomedia, a Fremantle company. Fontana, whose credits include Oz, Homicide: Life on the Street, and Borgia, has described the project as a story he's wanted to tell for decades. The series will be set in the 1980s and explore themes of faith, corruption, and power within the Vatican during an era marked by financial scandals. The source book is scheduled for publication by Century in June 2028.
