Project Summary
D'Orc is a live-action fantasy film in development at Sony Pictures, based on the bestselling Image Comics series by Brett Bean. Bean, who created, wrote, and illustrated the comic, is attached to adapt the screenplay. The comic debuted in February 2026 and became an instant commercial sensation, with its first issue selling out before release and reaching its eighth printing. The project blends swashbuckling humor with gritty action-fantasy and sprawling magical mythology, following a half-dwarf, half-orc protagonist caught in a doomsday prophecy. Sony acquired the film rights in October 2026, though no director, cast, production timeline, or filming locations have been announced. Bean's background includes creature design work for Jim Henson's Creature Shop and illustration credits on Marvel's Rocket and Groot series.
