Project Summary
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea is an eight-episode limited series in development at Paramount+, with Legendary Television producing in association with the Irwin Allen Estate. Daisy Ridley stars as Lee Crane, a brilliant ocean scientist drawn into a classified government program centered around the USS Seaview, a retro-futuristic submarine found entombed in Arctic ice and marked with symbols from a history that shouldn't exist. The vessel powers up only when Lee boards it. Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman serves as writer and executive producer, while Matt Shakman directs and executive produces. A writers' room is currently underway, with Jon Jashni and Derek Thielges also attached as executive producer and co-producer respectively. The project reimagines Irwin Allen's 1961 feature film and 1964-1968 ABC television series, promising undersea missions that uncover hidden truths about the oceans and the mythical city of Atlantis.
