About

The Irwin Allen Estate is the IP rights-holding entity for the legacy productions of legendary Hollywood producer-director Irwin Allen (1916–1991), nicknamed 'The Master of Disaster.' Allen was the force behind iconic 1960s science-fiction television series including Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel, and Land of the Giants, as well as blockbuster disaster films The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and The Towering Inferno (1974). After Allen's death in 1991, his widow Sheila Mathews Allen served as president of Irwin Allen Productions and steward of the estate until her own death in November 2013; she oversaw projects including the 1998 Lost in Space film and the 2006 Poseidon remake. The estate's interests have been managed in cooperation with Synthesis Entertainment (founded by Kevin Burns and Jon Jashni), which held a management arrangement with the Allen estate for developing remakes and new content based on Allen's classic properties.
