Project Summary
The People v. Gorilla Grodd is an eight-episode HBO Max comedy series currently in production in Atlanta. The mockumentary follows Daily Planet photojournalist Jimmy Olsen as he investigates whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one of Metropolis' most famous murder trials. Skyler Gisondo reprises his role as Olsen from James Gunn's Superman, with Jimmy Tatro voicing the titular ape. The series reunites the Daily Planet newsroom cast including Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. Created by Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault—the team behind Netflix's American Vandal—the series brings their true-crime mockumentary approach to the DC Universe. Produced by DC Studios in association with Warner Bros. Television, the show is filming at Georgia Institute of Technology through October 2026, with a practical Grodd suit being used on set that may be enhanced or replaced with CGI in post-production.
