Project Summary
Screech Owls is a 26-episode animated series currently in production in Toronto. Shaftesbury and Sphere Animation are producing the show in partnership with the National Hockey League and Boat Rocker Studios, with NHL All-Star P. K. Subban executive producing and voicing Coach P. K. John May and Suzanne Bolch, who adapted the original 2001 live-action series, return as head writers, with Suren Perera directing. The project reimagines Roy MacGregor's beloved Canadian book series for a global audience, blending hockey action with mystery-solving adventures as young players use specialized abilities to tackle globe-trotting missions. The series is being developed as a multi-platform franchise extending into interactive gaming, consumer products and global licensing. Production is underway in Toronto ahead of the show's fall 2027 premiere on CBC in English, followed by a winter 2028 French-language launch on Radio-Canada and TFO.
