Project Summary

Elise is a psychological horror feature currently in development from Big Canary Productions, the emerging production shingle of Toronto-based producer Kim Yu. Chris Alexander, the former Fangoria editor-in-chief known for arthouse horror films like Blood for Irina and Queen of Blood, is attached to direct from an original screenplay by Guyanese Canadian writer Amir Bacchus. The project blends supernatural and psychological horror around themes of grief, obsession, and the inability to let go. The story follows Marlon Reid, who while recovering from near-fatal heart surgery forms an unexpected connection with fellow patient Elise Carter. When that bond is shattered by loss, Marlon's grief unleashes something far darker. Big Canary is an offshoot of Yu's production services company Blue Moon Communications. Equinoxe Films has already committed to Canadian distribution, with president Michael Mosca expressing enthusiasm for the project.
