Roca

Roca is a feature film adaptation of Hisaichi Ishii's manga, directed by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Koji Fukada. The project follows teenagers Roca and Mino as their close bond is tested by diverging paths—Roca's growing musical career as a fado singer and Mino's increasingly perilous involvement in her yakuza family's world. Blending comedy and music, the film marks a tonal shift for Fukada while maintaining his signature exploration of loneliness and human connection. MK2 Films has come aboard to handle international sales, marking the sixth collaboration between the Paris-based company and Fukada. TBS and French production company Comme des Cinémas are producing the project. No production timeline or casting has been announced.
