Project Summary

Gene is an authorized biopic about the life of actor, writer, and director Gene Wilder, developed by Intrinsic Value Films with exclusive life rights from the Wilder Estate. Director Dito Montiel is attached to helm the project from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeremy Roth. The film will explore Wilder's rise from his early stage work to becoming one of film history's most beloved comedic performers, known for iconic roles in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, and The Producers. The biopic aims to examine the personal struggles, relationships, and challenges that shaped both his life and work. Aimee Schoof, Isen Robbins, and Megan Freels Johnston are producing for Intrinsic Value Films, with Josh Kesselman producing through Mgmt Entertainment. The project was first announced at the American Film Market in November 2025, with Montiel officially signing on in June 2026. No production schedule, filming locations, or casting have been announced.
