Fashionopolis
Project Summary
Fashionopolis is a feature documentary directed by Reiner Holzemer, based on Dana Thomas's acclaimed book Fashionopolis: The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes. The project has brought on Cate Blanchett's Dirty Films as a producing partner, with Andrew Upton and Coco Francini also involved. Dana Thomas is writing and producing alongside fashion documentary producer Bronwyn Cosgrave, whose credits include The Super Models for Apple TV+, Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards, and Larger Than Life: The Kevyn Aucoin Story. Danielle Perissi serves as executive producer. The film moves into the financing phase, aiming to feature access to leading voices across the fashion industry—designers, policymakers, labor activists, and innovators driving systemic change. Holzemer, known for acclaimed fashion documentaries including Martin Margiela: In His Own Words and Dries, brings his observational visual style to Thomas's investigative reporting on fashion sustainability.
