Project Summary
Yazz is a Swiss-German-French co-production from director Florian Hoffmann currently in development through the Alliance 4 Development platform. The drama follows Yasmine, known as Yazz, a teenager growing up inside a UN compound in the Central African Republic. A forbidden visit to her local boyfriend Joseph ends in an accident that tears her family apart. Ten years later, her mother reappears in Switzerland with Joseph by her side, forcing Yazz to confront her first love and unresolved guilt. The film is produced by Katrin Renz at Zurich's Tellfilm, Nicole Gerhards at Germany's NiKo Film, and Xénia Maingot at France's Eaux Vives Productions. The project recently won both the Nebel Studios Award and Studio13/Valais Film Commission Award at the 2026 Locarno Pro Awards, securing studio resources and equipment support. Production is planned to shoot in Switzerland and France.
